We have always planned to plant some citrus trees along our side yard since we moved in. We never got around to it since it wasn’t high on our priority list. Few weeks ago, while shopping at Costco, we saw they have some semi dwarf citrus trees at a reasonable price. We snagged a few up, 3 to be exact.
We have apple, orange and lemon. We could add a few more trees, but I didn’t want to invest in a bunch of trees, to have them all die. Let’s face it, we do not have green thumb (probably because we don’t like gardening much?). Seems like, nothing that we grow, survives. Most of our plants are just barely surviving. They are hanging in there for their dear life. Plants that we planted a year ago, still remain the same size, didn’t even grow an inch. We are lucky that they are still alive. So let’s start with 3 trees and see if the give us some fruits.
Last Thanksgiving, we planted about 5 bulbs of tulips. Only 2 came out. Not sure what happened to the other 3. Again, we are lucky that at least 2 “survived”.
My mom wanted us to grow some corns. So we got some corn seeds as well.
Update: After about a week, my mom was convinced that our corn died. She said nothing was sprouting. So she did an experiment and planted some in a pot, which she claimed, were already sprouting after a few days. I haven’t seen it for myself yet because I refuse to step on the grass that we covered with top soil. John argued otherwise because it’s still too early to tell since according to the packet instructions, they don’t start sprouting for another week or 2. So we shall see.
My parents are such a huge help around the house. My dad helps with yard work and my mom cooks and cleans daily. We are so spoiled but not for long… . They are leaving in end of May. Let’s enjoy this royal treatment while we can.
My mom takes the little munchkin out to our backyard in the evening daily.
