6 months update

So much has happened in Gaven’s 6th month. I want to pen them down (or should I say type them out) before I forget. I am not sure how to organize it so I am just going to throw it all out there in bullet points in no particular order:

- Gaven is crawling pretty good now. He is not fast fast, but he gets to where he wants to be.

- He is sitting up pretty good, without any support

- This one amazes me. He can sit up from his crawling position or laying down position. He can sit and then crawl, and then sit. Or when I lay him down in his crib, he rolls over and moves around to a sitting position.

- He is also more curious about the stuff around him. Things he never noticed before, he now tries to reach out and grab them. The other day, our baby monitor lost signal. So John went in to his room to check the camera and found him tugging on to the wires. Now we need to move the camera up to a higher position so he can't reach it. Maybe this will be a project this weekend.

- Since he is mobile now, we also started baby proofing the kitchen cabinets. We still have lots more things to baby proof. We bought these type of child locks for our kitchen cabinets.

- He screams. He likes to do this high pitched scream where you don’t know if it was a happy scream or a unhappy scream.

- He sometimes still sleeps with his butt up in the air, but it’s less often now. I miss this sleeping position of his. IMG_0027 (2)

- He is eating more solids now. To date, he has tried oatmeal, rice cereal, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, avocado (which he hates), banana, pears (he doesn’t like) and carrots (impartial).

- We got him a walker, but he doesn’t quite know how to use it yet. He moves a little backward and forward but I don’t think he intends to move it. He sometimes get too excited that he accidentally pushes the walker.

- Changing him is getting harder and harder because as soon as you lay him down on the changing table, he rolls over and sits up. Sometimes he even tries to stand up holding on to the side bar. photo(5)photo(6)photo(7)IMG_0014 (3)

- His top 2 teeth have finally cut through.

- He loves to be in our bed. He started laughing excitedly as soon as you lay him down on our bed. He’ll instantly roll over and crawl all over.

- Gaven has been admitted to the ER twice in a week. He had 104 fever which scared the hell out of us. We immediately sent him to ER at the local hospital here. Tylenol and Motrin seems to help reduce his fever but only for a few hours. The doctor discharged us after a negative blood and urine test results. He told us he caught some viral infection from other kids. The sickness just needs to run its course. After 2 days of high fever, which we gave him Tylenol / Motrin to keep his fever down, we decided to take him to the pediatrician office. After some tests, she advised us to send him to the Children's' Hospital ER. So off we went again. Poor guy got poked and probed multiple times for more tests, to finally confirm that it is indeed a viral infection. It is by far, the scariest thing that had happened to him. I was worried sick and thought there was something seriously wrong with him. The ER doctor told us if this is how we are going to react to his sickness, wait till he breaks his first bone. I can’t even imagine what a wreck I would be! So his fever lasted 4 days. He continues to have sore throat, congestion and coughing with phlegm. Can’t wait for him to get all better!
