Gaven inside me

Now that Gaven is a year old, let’s go down the memory lane with me when he was churning inside of me for 39 weeks, shall we? Skip this if my big pregnant belly pictures bother you. Smile

I wasn’t very consistent in taking my weekly photos, I even forgot to take pictures at some weeks. So just bear with me in these inconsistent pregnant belly pictures.

Week 22 looked bigger than week 24, isn’t it? Maybe it was just the angle?

The last picture, week 39, was taken right before I headed to the hospital, January 17th. I was having contractions all day and finally decided to check in to the hospital at around 7 pm. Glad I did, I was already 5 cm dilated.

All I can remember throughout my pregnancy is how bad my heart burn was and my ribs hurt like hell. And oh, and I ate like a pig! Like a lot a lot! Other than that, my pregnancy experience was pretty easy and I wouldn’t complain after hearing so many other horror experiences from other moms.

Gaven’s First Year

Update: It is sort of bittersweet that this monthly photo shoot is going to end here but I am kind of relief that there is no more monthly photoshoot! I mean just look at Month 12th! Getting this little guy to sit still, is a challenge!

I’ve been taking Gaven’s monthly photos since he was a baby baby. Let me lay it all out here so we can see how far he has come along.

My little boy has grown, hasn’t he? He sure has done a lot in his first year. We have taken him camping, he flew to Seattle and Vancouver with us, he’s been to Disneyland and California Adventure, been to Vegas, been to numerous shopping trips with me (tee hee…). Let’s hope his second year will be filled with as many adventures and many firsts just like his first year, if not more.

1 year down. 17 more years to go before I can kick this guy out of the house. Smile with tongue out

1 year ago today, for what seemed like the worst constipation ever for me turned out I was in labor! Read about it here.

It has been a wonderful and difficult 1 year. As tough as it is to be a parent, I must say it’s all worth it. Wouldn’t all the mamas out there agree?

Our Little Stevie Wonder

Penny takes pictures and videos of the kids and then saves it into a little pen drive for parents to take home every month or so, so we, the parents get an idea what they do over there.

Last month we got this video of Gaven which I thought is too funny not to share. Our little Stevie Wonder in the making. Well, according to Penny, the keyboard is his favorite thing there. In fact, I think that’s how he first learned to climb up because he wants to get on it.

Accident

My poor Mazda got hit for the first time. The damage is pretty bad. So guess who hit my car? This person is no other than my own brother! Yes, how is that possible? He lives in Singapore.

My brother and his family were here for vacation last month. This unfortunate incident happened on the second day of their arrival. I am just glad that we are not hurt especially Gaven. He of course started crying when we got hit. It was a loud bang and I think he cried because the loud noise woke him up from his nap more than anything. Thank goodness my brother bought the rental car insurance so we are letting the insurance company deal with it now and boy, what a mess it has been!

Gaven’s First Vegas Trip

(Meant to post this a while ago, just didn’t have time to do so. So bear with me here, I have a lot of blog catch up to do)

One of the trips we took when my brother’s family was here is Vegas. We stayed at the Aria Hotel right at the City Center. It is a really nice hotel and we got really good rates. Will definitely stay there again if we ever go Vegas again. We stayed there for a couple nights and returned back to LA while my brother and his family stayed for another night and continued on to their Grand Canyon trip.
Not sure if Gaven knows he’s in Sin City but he sure was having a great time. He partied like a rock star. His 7:30pm bedtime schedule was shifted to 11:30pm during this trip. We were afraid that his schedule will be all screwed up and would have to sleep train him again when we get back. But this little guy is like a chameleon. He adjusts to a new schedule pretty well. When we got back, he went right back to his regular schedule.

I love their bathtub. Gaven loves it too! He can’t wait to get into the bath!

Walking!!

3 days shy from being 1 year old, our little boy started walking!!! We got it on video, will have to post it up here once I got it uploaded to the computer. In the meantime, picture this!

After his bath, when I was dressing him up in his room, John was standing next to him and said:

John:  Oh Gaven, you made me so proud today. You have no idea how proud I am of you!

Then he proceeded to pick Gaven up from the changing table and gave him lots of kisses.

Me: Wait till he gets into Harvard, you will be even more proud! Open-mouthed smile

Ah… crazy first time parents! Please tell us we are not the only ones. Smile with tongue out
